Macmillan Cancer Support needed a reliable way to hear from patients and carers about sensitive issues so it could build the evidence base needed to influence government and media — but the audience is hard to reach and budgets are tight. Macmillan turned to Toluna and its PanelPortal™ hosted online research panel to create a bespoke, non‑intrusive community where people affected by cancer could engage on their own terms.

Toluna implemented PanelPortal™ to recruit and manage a custom online panel, enabling anonymous, convenient surveys that produced faster, cheaper and more candid insight. The approach delivered high engagement (up to 13,000 responses per survey), shorter turnaround times, marginal per‑survey costs compared with traditional research, and a robust evidence base Macmillan uses to shape campaigns and policy — all provided by Toluna.
