Toluna conducted a quantitative study, used opted‑in behavioral tracking over several weeks, and set up an online community on Toluna’s platform to recruit and explore the target audience.
Toluna’s tracking revealed how long people spent on each site, which websites and search terms were most common, and who actually switched providers, showing energy sites were typically the final stop. Based on Toluna’s insights, the Leading Energy Company refocused ad spend and awareness efforts on price comparison sites, expert advice sites and cashback sites and launched a targeted marketing campaign to better reach switch-ready consumers.
