CMI, a marketing and research firm that maps customers’ paths to purchase, needed ongoing, real‑time feedback from holiday shoppers for its retail clients instead of the usual ad hoc studies. To build a dedicated “tent” community for longitudinal tracking, on‑site listening and on‑demand sampling, CMI partnered with Toluna and deployed Toluna’s PanelPortal branded community platform.
Toluna used PanelPortal and its global panel and toolkit to run real‑time surveys, quick on‑site polls and community discussions, enabling ad‑hoc feedback with little incremental cost and eliminating the need to source respondents. The work delivered a deeper view of Black Friday and Cyber‑Monday shoppers and a clear segmentation (shopping zealots, casual shoppers, deal despondents, reluctant shoppers and anti‑shoppers), results that CMI used to inform retail clients and that strengthened CMI’s position as a go‑to holiday‑shopping insights partner.
