Homegrown Sustainable Sandwiches, an eco-friendly fast-casual group with 10 locations in Seattle and the Bay Area, needed to modernize as it scaled to handle a concentrated downtown lunch rush—about 85% of sales between 10 AM and 3 PM and as many as 100–200 tickets in a few hours—and to provide a smoother mobile ordering experience for busy customers.

Toast provided a cloud-based tablet POS with kitchen display screens and integrated, mobile-optimized online ordering. The KDS eliminated lost tickets, surfaced priorities with timers and color cues, and helped the team handle high-volume lunch service, while integrated online ordering reduced back-office work, enabled SMS order-ready alerts, and delivered ongoing feature improvements and restaurant-focused support.
