Pioneering higher education organisation FX Plus has used the Team Management Profile to develop its own leaders

Falmouth Exeter Plus (FX Plus), the shared-services organisation for Falmouth University and the University of Exeter, wanted to shift its leadership culture from transactional to transformational and build stronger leadership behaviours across the business. It worked with TMS Development International Ltd and introduced the Margerison-McCann Team Management Profile as part of its new Geared for Growth leadership programme.

TMS Development International Ltd helped FX Plus deliver six leadership modules to around 75 managers, with Profile workshops later extended to ten teams and nearly 200 staff in total. The programme improved self-awareness, gave teams a common language for discussing preferences and communication styles, and supported more constructive dialogue with students, parents and academics; it also revealed that 26% of staff were Thruster-Organisers and 20% were Concluder-Producers, highlighting areas where FX Plus may want to become more proactive.
