A Textio Case Study
Johnson & Johnson faced a widening communication gap between recruiters and hiring managers around job descriptions: recruiters had been using the Textio platform since 2017 to improve language and scores, but many hiring managers didn’t use the tool and routinely reinserted habit-driven, underperforming phrasing (e.g., “stakeholder”), especially in pharma roles.
To fix this J&J gave hiring managers access to Textio so teams could co-write in real time. Across nearly 4,000 Textio-written posts, shared documents saw average scores jump from 51 to 72 (a 41% increase), documents scoring ≥90 rose from 5% to 30%, very gender-biased postings fell from 11% to 3%, recruiters boosted drafts by >20 points on average, and edits that once took days could be completed in about 30 minutes. Those higher scores translated to measurable hiring gains: score-90 listings drew ~19% more applicants, score ≥80 listings produced 22% more underrepresented candidates, neutral-tone posts filled 8 days faster (≈15%) and delivered up to three times more qualified candidates into the pipeline — all outcomes driven by Textio-enabled collaboration.
