A Text Request Case Study
WGN Radio, a commercial AM radio station in Chicago, needed a new texting platform after Zipwhip announced it was shutting down. They also had to keep their long-used text number, 312-981-7200, so listeners wouldn’t be confused. WGN chose Text Request for its ability to transfer their existing text line and provide a user-friendly way for hosts to manage listener messages during shows.
Text Request transferred WGN Radio’s Zipwhip data in one night, with the switch happening so seamlessly that listeners did not notice any disruption. The platform helped hosts quickly read, search, and respond to texts, supporting about 300 texts per show and strengthening listener loyalty through two-way texting. Text Request also improved account security by allowing the team to remove users individually instead of sharing one login.
