A Teleperformance Case Study
Mount Sinai Hospital, one of New York’s largest and most respected medical facilities, serves patients who speak more than 150 languages. To improve communication with limited-English-proficient patients, the hospital needed a faster, more convenient way for staff to access interpreters during brief, high-volume interactions. Teleperformance’s LanguageLine on-demand mobile interpreting was selected to help address this challenge.
Teleperformance implemented LanguageLine mobile interpreting on iPads and physician smartphones, giving staff instant access to interpreters by video in 36 languages and audio in 240-plus languages. The solution improved communication during rounds, in the emergency room, and at registration and patient service touchpoints, while also increasing patient satisfaction and comfort. Mount Sinai reported strong acceptance from patients and staff, with mobile interpreting making conversations clearer, more personal, and more effective.
