The University of Washington Information School replaced a homegrown endpoint backup solution after a data-loss incident showed the costs and risks of their previous approach. They needed a reliable way to protect endpoint data during migrations and OS refreshes and to bolster their disaster recovery/business continuity plan.

They deployed CrashPlan as an on-premises private-cloud backup, gaining buy-in and budget by demonstrating cost and time savings. The new solution delivered more consistent, reliable backups, a “set-and-forget” experience with low resource use, and reduced IT time spent managing backups and restores by about 1–10 hours per week.
