Stamford International University replaces tape backup with CrashPlan, supports SOX effort

Stamford International University, an educational institution, needed to prevent data loss from lost or stolen laptops and drive failures and to strengthen data security, privacy and disaster-recovery controls as part of regulatory compliance efforts (including SOX and Thailand IT laws). Their existing processes relied on manual USB/external drive backups and HP tape, which were inconsistent and costly to manage.

The university deployed Code42 CrashPlan in a hybrid cloud configuration to replace tape and manual backups. The solution increased endpoint backup reliability and consistency, reduced backup hardware and management costs, cut support tickets and IT hours for monitoring and restores, and supported e-discovery and legal-hold requirements while helping meet SOX and local regulatory obligations.
