A TechValidate Case Study
Mosaic, a medium-sized marketing/media company, was struggling with endpoint data loss from lost or stolen laptops and hard drive failures while also needing to meet e‑discovery/legal hold, disaster recovery and data governance requirements. Prior processes (manual USB backups, restrictive policies and Altiris) led to drained IT resources, decreased employee productivity, lost revenue, lower confidence in IT and compliance risks.
Mosaic deployed CrashPlan (Code42) in a hybrid cloud model—replacing Altiris and manual backups and enabling self‑service restores—to address those challenges after documenting the cost of a data-loss event. The deployment saved an estimated $1M–$5M in endpoint recovery costs, reduced IT effort by 11–25 hours per week, and increased backup reliability, end‑user productivity and compliance.
