A TechValidate Case Study
KEMET Corporation, an S&P 500 electronics company, faced repeated endpoint data loss from malware/ransomware, lost or stolen devices, hardware failures and accidental deletion. Regulatory requirements and internal IT policies (e.g., SOX and data privacy rules) made secure, auditable backups a priority and drove a move away from manual USB/external-drive backups.
KEMET deployed Code42 CrashPlan as a public-cloud backup with encryption keys stored on-premises in a master appliance to meet compliance and policy needs. The solution replaced manual backups, complemented existing antivirus, DLP and endpoint management tools, and enabled protection before migrations/encryption projects, identification of data on lost or stolen machines, and secure handling of data when employees departed.
