A TechValidate Case Study
Gordon College, an educational institution, was struggling with endpoint data loss from lost or stolen laptops, hard-drive failures and disruptions during OS migrations, which drained IT resources and reduced employee productivity. Leadership sought a scalable, reliable backup approach to protect faculty and student devices and to eliminate manual USB-based backups.
The college deployed CrashPlan as a private-cloud solution (on‑premises with Code42 appliances), replacing manual backups and securing buy-in by quantifying the cost of lost devices and end-user demand. Since implementation they’ve saved an estimated $50K–$500K in endpoint data recovery, improved backup reliability, reduced costs from data-loss events, and cut IT time spent on backups and migrations (about 1–10 hours per week), while benefiting from strong vendor support and scalability.
