Drexel University replaces HP Connected, uses CrashPlan to back up before encryption

Drexel University, an educational institution, replaced HP Connected and deployed CrashPlan to protect endpoint data before a campus-wide disk encryption effort. Prior to CrashPlan, endpoint data loss drained IT resources, reduced employee productivity, and risked violations of data security and compliance policies.

By moving to Code42’s CrashPlan (data stored in the Code42 public cloud with encryption keys held onsite), Drexel gained more reliable, consistent backups and stronger endpoint security. The change lowered costs and IT workload (saving an estimated 11–25 hours per week), reduced user disruptions with self-service restore and mobile access, and helped the university meet HIPAA, FERPA and GLBA requirements.
