Colby College replaces Retrospect and Symantec DLO with CrashPlan

Colby College, an educational institution, replaced EMC Retrospect and Symantec DLO after seeking a more reliable endpoint backup solution to prevent data loss from lost/stolen laptops and hard drive crashes and to strengthen its disaster recovery/business continuity posture while meeting regulatory requirements.

The college deployed CrashPlan (Code42 public cloud with encryption keys stored onsite in a master appliance), which increased the reliability and consistency of endpoint backups, reduced IT hours spent managing and monitoring backups, and helped Colby maintain compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.
