GlobalFoundries, a leading global semiconductor manufacturer with major fabs in the US, Europe and Asia, faced rising demand and tight delivery windows that exposed inefficiencies in its warehouse picking: a paper-based, scanner-driven process that was slow, error-prone, wasteful and required extra walking and manual sorting. Improving inbound and outbound logistics was critical to maintaining on-time delivery and supporting production across customer industries.

GlobalFoundries deployed TeamViewer Frontline’s xPick vision-picking solution using smart glasses, rolling out the system in Dresden’s Fab 1 within ten weeks. The hands-free AR workflow replaced printouts and bulky scanners with voice-guided, image-supported picking, delivering a 25% reduction in picking time after one month, a one-third increase in inventory accuracy, elimination of about 100,000 sheets of paper per year, improved ergonomics and strong staff acceptance, with plans to expand the solution to additional warehouse processes.
