Identifying Cattle‘s Mating Season With Smartphone By Using TeamViewer

The Rural Development Administration (RDA), South Korea’s national agency for agricultural R&D and extension, developed smart‑farm technologies to support livestock producers. A major challenge was that breeders must constantly observe cattle to detect the brief estrous window; missing it means waiting ~21 days and losing time and income.

RDA introduced a behavioral mating‑recognition system using neck‑worn activity sensors that send data to farm PCs and integrated TeamViewer for remote monitoring, enabling artificial insemination within the optimal 13–15 hour window. In pilots on roughly 160 farms the mating cycle fell by 16% (68.1 → 56.8 days), pregnancy rates rose (trial averages from ~75.7% to 87.3%; some farms reported increases to 95%), and farmers reported up to a 20% income increase; the system has been patented and is being rolled out to more farms.
