ESL supports IoT terminals remotely, greatly reducing both travel and manpower costs

Environmental Simulation Research Institute (環境シミュレーション研究所) provides marine data and fisheries-support systems using small, boat-mounted data-collection terminals that often must operate over narrow 3G links. The institute needed a way to access the terminals remotely without riskily modifying stable, decade-old devices, because on-site support trips were costly, time-consuming and became impractical under COVID-19 restrictions.

They implemented TeamViewer IoT (full deployment from August 2020), using its lightweight remote terminal (CUI) capability to access devices over 3G with minimal installation. The solution enabled fast remote troubleshooting, greatly reduced travel and support costs, freed staff to focus on new product development, and the institute plans to expand use of additional TeamViewer IoT features to deliver more value to marine stakeholders.
