A TargetX Case Study
The University of Washington, a large public research university, needed a private, customizable online network to build authentic community among admitted and incoming students during the six months between admission and matriculation. The challenge was to create a student-driven space that felt genuine while supporting multi-moderator workflows so staff and student moderators could quickly share information and correct inaccuracies across departments.
UW adopted the TargetX Schools App, a university-branded mobile community that balances flexibility, customization and moderation tools; staff and ten student moderators used alerts and a Share function to route questions to the right offices. As a result, nearly 74% of the 2015–16 incoming freshman class joined the app, the class achieved a 92% retention rate, and students reported stronger connections and engagement with the UW community.
