Texas Tech University set an ambitious goal in 2008 to grow from about 28,000 to 40,000 students by 2020 — adding roughly 1,000+ students per year — but their CRM systems repeatedly fell short. After three unsatisfactory implementations, slow data uploads and limited reporting hindered admissions staff who needed a fast, intuitive platform that could support recruitment, financial aid, scholarships and registrar functions while empowering counselors to own their territories.
TTU implemented the TargetX Recruitment Suite, a recruitment-focused CRM with integrated communication tools, centralized student data, and easy-to-build dashboards and reports. The result was faster, more efficient workflows and data-driven decision making; TTU hit 40,322 students in 2020, improved retention and graduation rates, and from 2018–2020 saw total enrollment rise 6% (freshmen: +18% applications, +11% admits, +6% enrollment; transfers: +10% applications, +11% admits, +11% enrollment).
