Using SecureFit to Reduce Workers Compensation Claims & Disciplinary Actions

Select International, a talent assessment provider, partnered with a large automobile manufacturer that wanted to reduce safety incidents, disciplinary actions, and workers’ compensation costs by improving hires who fit its strong safety culture. The company sought to identify personal traits linked to safe behavior—such as conscientiousness, locus of control, and risk taking—so hires would better align with its safety expectations.

Select International’s SecureFit® assessment was piloted in the hiring process and, after two years of data, analysis showed that removing the lowest “Poor Fit” group (about 8% of candidates) would have reduced disciplinary actions by 39% and workers’ compensation claims by 52%. In short, using SecureFit to screen for safety-related traits helped the employer predict and substantially lower costly safety incidents.
