A Talogy Case Study
Select International, a provider of workforce assessment solutions, addressed a major safety challenge in commercial trucking: motor-vehicle crashes are the leading cause of workplace fatalities and a small portion of drivers account for most accidents. Research and safety-manager surveys pointed to aggression, impulsivity and inattentiveness as key driver risk factors, so fleets need an efficient way to screen applicants for these behaviors before hiring.
Select International developed RoadWorthy®, a short online pre‑screen that measures risk factors like road rage, impulsivity, unreliability and past accidents/violations and classifies candidates as Not RoadWorthy, Potentially RoadWorthy, or RoadWorthy. In a study of 92 driver applicants, Not RoadWorthy candidates had far higher rates of violations and license suspensions (21% had two or more moving violations and 17% had two or more suspensions) while RoadWorthy candidates had none in those categories; by screening out roughly 25% of applicants, the firm substantially reduced its likelihood of hiring high‑risk drivers.
