Optimising Safety at a Phillips 66 Refinery with SafetyDNA

Phillips 66, the global energy company operating the Bayway Refinery in Linden, New Jersey, wanted to strengthen employee engagement and ownership of safety beyond traditional training. To address this, Phillips 66 worked with Talogy and its SafetyDNA program, alongside an adaptive learning approach, to make safety more personal, improve retention of critical procedures, and better tailor development for workers and leaders.

Talogy implemented a custom SafetyDNA program for over 800 hourly employees and 150 leaders, combining assessments, onsite workshops, coaching, action plans, and Trivie’s adaptive microlearning platform. The results included over a quarter million quiz questions answered in 2.5 years, more than 90% employee adoption of Trivie, knowledge gains of over 50% on Hazardous Energy and 25% on Hazardous Chemicals Monitoring, and recognition that included AFPM Distinguished Safety Awards in 2018 and 2020.
