A Talogy Case Study
A leading manufacturer of residential, commercial and industrial electrical wire and cable products wanted to improve workforce quality and reduce safety incidents, so they partnered with Select International to redesign hiring. The goal was to identify job-relevant competencies for manufacturing, distribution and maintenance roles and build a selection process that screens for both the right behavioral traits and the physical capabilities needed on the job.
Select International implemented an online application with SecureFit screening, the Select Assessment® for Manufacturing (SAM) competency assessment, and a realistic production exercise (coil winding, spool rolling, wire threading). A concurrent validation study showed strong relationships between higher assessment scores and better job performance and fewer safety incidents — SecureFit “Very Good/Good” candidates averaged near the 60th performance percentile while “Poor” fits had 3.5× the rate of safety incidents, and top SAM and production-exercise scorers consistently rated higher on performance.
