A Talogy Case Study
A large global pharmaceutical and medical-supply manufacturer was struggling with high turnover in entry-level manufacturing technician roles. To improve hiring quality and retention, the company partnered with Select International to better screen and select candidates for these positions.
They implemented the Select Assessment® for Manufacturing (SAM) over a two-year period and compared hires who did not take SAM, failed SAM, or passed SAM. Turnover fell from 50% for hires who did not take SAM to 29% for those who passed (a 42% improvement); top SAM scorers had just 14% turnover versus 36% for the bottom 30% (a 61% improvement). Using a 1.5x replacement-cost estimate on a $40,000 technician salary, the reduction from 50% to 29% would save about $1.26 million across 100 hires, demonstrating SAM’s effectiveness in cutting costly turnover.
