A Talogy Case Study

Preview of the Dstl Case Study

Developing technical experts into system skill leaders

Dstl wanted to turn deep technical specialists into broader system skills leaders who could think strategically, work well with customers, and deliver customer-centered solutions. The organization also aimed to cut the average system skills development cycle from 10 years to 5, and it worked with Talogy, using bespoke research and an Emotional Intelligence-based approach.

Talogy designed and delivered a four-day Emotional Intelligence development program, Managing Individual Effectiveness (MIE), along with additional system skills modules and a bespoke online selection tool. The results were strong: since 2007, about 115 people completed MIE through the Accelerated Systems Skills Program, helping significantly reduce the development cycle. Six months after training, participants showed an 18% sustained improvement in Emotional Intelligence, a 100% increase in self-esteem, and a shift from negative to positive attitudes, with more than 350 graduates across Dstl overall.
