Beverage Company - Customer Case Study

A specialty beverage manufacturer in the retail manufacturing sector needed to add a large number of engineers who not only had the right experience and education but also fit its dynamic, collaborative culture and demonstrated competencies such as planning, emotional intelligence, accountability and teamwork. To close gaps in their hiring process, they engaged Select International to implement the Select Assessment® for Professionals as part of their selection strategy.

A validation study with 64 engineers found a strong correlation (r = .46) between assessment scores and supervisor-rated job performance. Further analysis showed the bottom 25% of performers were almost seven times more likely to fall into the lowest recommendation bands (C & D), with none placed in the top band; if used in hiring, 87% of the lowest-performing incumbents would not have been recommended. Candidates also reacted positively to the assessment, indicating it is both accurate and well-received for improving engineering hiring and workforce productivity.
