Case Study: American Airlines achieves safer, more efficient operations with AT&T Business paperless cockpit solutions

A AT&T Business Case Study

Preview of the American Airlines Case Study

American Airlines efficiency and safety soar with paperless cockpit solution

American Airlines, one of the world’s largest airlines, needed a better way for pilots to carry and access flight information, navigation charts, and FAA-required forms without hauling 40-pound kit bags. The company wanted a safer, more efficient, and more up-to-date solution for pilots on the go. AT&T Business provided the networking, mobility, and AT&T NetBond® capabilities behind the initiative, along with the AT&T Control Center for the Internet of Things.

AT&T Business helped American Airlines deploy Electronic Flight Bags on tablet computers, replacing bulky paper manuals with reliable, connected access to flight plans, radar, schedules, charts, and emergency procedures. The result was improved safety, faster access to critical information, reduced pilot injuries, and major savings: American Airlines eliminated 24 million pages of paper and saved about 400,000 gallons of fuel and $2 million annually.
