Foodstuffs Leverages SymphonyAI Shelf Planning and Planogram Capabilities to Automate, Speed, and Effectively Customize for Their Shoppers

Foodstuffs North Island (FSNI), a 100% New Zealand‑owned co‑operative operating 323 owner‑operated stores under Four Square, New World, PAK'nSAVE, Gilmours and Liquorland, needed to increase planogram adoption, speed and automate shelf planning, and provide easily configured local variations for individual stores. FSNI engaged SymphonyAI and evaluated SymphonyAI Shelf Planning and planogram capabilities to drive more granular category clustering, improve transparency for store owners, and make it simple for teams to merchandise for their specific shoppers.

SymphonyAI implemented shelf planning that generates planograms from 10–12 store clusters, then creates store‑specific variants using loyalty and demand data so stores allocate space to items their shoppers value most. The solution sped rollouts for new and refurbished stores, enabled easy drag‑and‑drop local edits, and drove strong adoption—about 95% across the estate—while helping FSNI’s small central team scale (the category team grew as demand rose). FSNI reports significant category growth, faster store setup, and improved productivity and agility thanks to SymphonyAI.
