The Connecticut State Library in Hartford manages digital archives and searchable collections from more than 70 state departments, but patrons struggled with a generic site search that couldn’t surface content from a separate, librarian-focused subdomain. IT Analyst Jacqueline Bagwell was tasked with improving discovery across both the WordPress main site and the specialized CMS—where unique records like death certificates and historical patents lived—to ensure that all resources were easily findable.

They implemented Swiftype to index both domains and provide a unified search experience. Swiftype has handled growing search traffic with no issues, delivered a clear increase in usage, and allowed staff to use analytics (broken-link and no-result reports) to iteratively improve search results and content access while meeting deployment deadlines and continuing expansion.
