A Swiftype Case Study
Azusa Pacific University (APU), a private university near Los Angeles serving nearly 10,000 students, needed to replace the Google Search Appliance after Google phased it out. The web team required a site search that could be seamlessly integrated, allow manual promotion and precise control of rankings, and enable multiple non-developer team members to adjust results.
APU implemented Swiftype in about two weeks, adding custom meta tags, fallback pages, and weighted rankings. The result was lower cost and faster, more granular control over search behavior, better handling of misspellings and mobile queries, and improved visibility into user behavior and conversions—helping the university deliver more relevant results and drive prospective-student inquiries.
