Lenovo - Customer Case Study

Lenovo, the world’s largest PC vendor, needed to modernize its aging infrastructure to support mission-critical SAP applications and reduce the high costs, manual effort, and security risks tied to its UNIX-based environment. The company turned to Suse, using SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications and SUSE Manager to move to open source Linux on x86 hardware and simplify management across a growing Linux landscape.

Suse implemented a solution that centralized control, automated patching, provisioning, monitoring, and reporting, while also improving SAP performance and flexibility. The results were significant: Lenovo cut Linux administrator workload by at least 50%, reduced manual patching from about three months a year to two weeks, and gained the ability to manage nearly 1,000 Linux servers more securely and efficiently.
