Case Study: British Airways achieves centralized management of 6 data centers and streamlined capacity planning with Sunbird DCIM (dcTrack)

A Sunbird DCIM Case Study

Preview of the British Airways Case Study

Sunbird’s Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) solution manages British Airways’ 6 Data Centers

British Airways needed to refresh and extend its data center infrastructure management across six data halls in two sites near its Heathrow Waterside HQ. The airline sought a single, flexible solution to manage server allocation, fiber/cable patching and to plan future utilization, power and cooling capacity for a large estate of over 500 data cabinets. Sunbird DCIM’s dcTrack was selected to meet these requirements.

Sunbird DCIM implemented dcTrack across all six data centers, migrating existing records, incorporating customer enhancement requests, and rolling out graphical real‑time visibility, work‑order controls, and server/power/network connectivity management. The deployment now supports capacity planning across all locations, is integrating active power monitoring, enables faster space allocation and formalized change control, and delivered a scalable, cost‑effective alternative to upgrading the previous software at a fraction of the cost.
