A SugarCRM Case Study
New York Restoration Project (NYRP) is a nonprofit founded by Bette Midler that restores and manages public green space across New York City—about 100 acres of parkland and 52 community gardens. With multiple teams working on each site, NYRP needed visibility into the intersection of people and place, but their previous systems (ETO and later spreadsheets) didn’t capture the right relationships or scale with the organization, leaving data hard to find, unreportable, and vulnerable to loss.
NYRP implemented SugarCRM in a straightforward rollout, customizing the platform to use the organization’s own language and workflows and deploying early adopters to drive adoption. By treating each property as an account and tracking granular activities (including volunteer inquiries, approvals, plantings and trash removal) plus GPS locations via a Bing Maps integration, NYRP gained detailed reporting and faster, more informed decision‑making across departments.
