Fordham University, a Jesuit institution serving about 15,000 students across multiple campuses, faced the challenge of rapidly onboarding roughly 3,800 new students each year while continuing to support a carryover base of about 11,000. IT leaders needed a way to track each “constituent” — students, parents, alumni — across admissions, academics, financial aid and advising so staff could deliver timely, personalized service and monitor student progress.

Fordham implemented SugarCRM as a customizable information hub, linking more than 15 systems with roughly 30 APIs and an 80% cloud-based deployment. Configurable dashboards surface a 360-degree view (transcripts, GPA, course status, advisor notes, passport and payment info), enabling staff to spot at‑risk students, target outreach, streamline workflows and improve constituent experience — with plans to extend capabilities via IBM Marketing Cloud.
