The National Geographic Society - Customer Case Study

The National Geographic Society, a leading nonprofit scientific and educational institution, launched an Educator Certification Program to support K–12 teachers with curriculum and classroom resources. Managing educators’ final reports via Google Forms and three separate spreadsheets created a slow, error-prone workflow—staff compiled edits into Word documents and manually updated sheets—costing more than 40 staff hours (about $1,000) per month. To streamline submissions and editing, they turned to Submittable.

Submittable implemented its submission-management platform (the team set up a Submittable account), consolidating all teacher reports and multimedia in one place and enabling easy revisions with its Open for Editing feature. As a result, National Geographic staff report saving more than 40 hours per month, fewer lost items, faster reviewer/teacher interactions, and more time to grow the program—benefiting thousands of teachers and students—thanks to Submittable.
