Southeast Missouri State University Press - Customer Case Study

Southeast Missouri State University Press (SMSU Press) is a small university press and hands-on training program for students in Small Press Publishing. To manage general queries, the Proud to Be anthology series, the Dorothy and Wedel Nilsen Literary Prize, the Cowles Poetry Book Prize, and its journals Big Muddy and The Cape Rock, SMSU Press adopted Submittable in 2011 to handle intake and submissions across these programs.

Using Submittable’s submission-management platform, SMSU Press centralized intake, streamlined review workflows, and incorporated student training into its editorial process. Submittable has enabled SMSU Press to review more than 4,500 submissions across the press and journals, simplifying prize administration (including the $2,000 first-novel and poetry awards, publication, and author copies) and speeding selection and publication decisions.
