A Submittable Case Study
Loudoun County Economic Development needed to move quickly in early 2020 to get emergency aid to small businesses but was hamstrung by manual, email- and Word-based processes that were inefficient and risky. To modernize grantmaking and better steward taxpayer funds, the county selected Submittable and its grants-management platform to replace the ad hoc system and support rapid program launches during the COVID crisis.
Submittable worked with the county to automate application intake, track staff interactions and notes, and produce real-time reports for leadership and the grant review board, giving the team much greater visibility and control. Using Submittable’s platform, Loudoun County distributed $12 million in grants to roughly 2,000 local businesses between April and December 2020 and continues to use the data captured to guide recovery and retention efforts.
