Case Study: SPACE on Ryder Farm achieves residency program growth and saves thousands of reviewer hours with Submittable

A Submittable Case Study

Preview of the SPACE on Ryder Farm Case Study

For Artists, Inclusivity and Growth on a Gorgeous Farm

SPACE on Ryder Farm is a nonprofit artist residency program on a 225‑year‑old family homestead that saw applications grow over 500% between 2015 and 2020. Before adopting Submittable’s application management platform in 2017, the team relied on Wufoo, Dropbox, and Google Forms for a manual, multi‑step process that became unmanageable as interest and reviewer counts rose.

Submittable centralized forms, reviewer assignments, messaging, form logic, additional forms, blinding and reporting, letting SPACE streamline workflows and track demographic goals. The move to Submittable saved external reviewers about 1.5 hours per application (roughly 3,000–4,500 hours per season), cut administrator time by ~40 hours a year, enabled handling 1,300 applications in 2019, and improved inclusivity tracking and outreach.
