Case Study: Slack achieves global enterprise payments and automated billing in 15 countries with Stripe

A Stripe Case Study

Preview of the Slack Case Study

Slack uses Stripe to process payments and achieve 99% authorization rate

Slack is a channel-based messaging platform with over 12 million daily users and more than $630M in FY20 revenue. As it expanded into large enterprises globally, Slack needed to support ACH and credit card payments worldwide, automate custom usage-based invoices that accept multiple payment methods, let customers adjust billing, and handle taxes — without diverting engineering resources from its core product.

Slack partnered with Stripe to deploy Payments, Billing, Radar, and Sigma, launching in 15 countries in about two weeks with Stripe’s deployment support. The integration improved payment acceptance with local methods, maintained nearly 100% uptime during peak demand, freed engineering to focus on product roadmap, and gave accounting better reporting to resolve billing questions, helping maximize Slack’s FY20 results.
