Shopify uses Tap to Pay on iPhone to give merchants the accessibility and convenience of accepting in-person payments with just an iPhone

Shopify wanted to expand its in-person payments offering so merchants could provide fast, seamless checkout experiences without the complexity of traditional payment hardware. As customer expectations shifted toward contactless and convenient buying, Shopify turned to Stripe and its Tap to Pay on iPhone solution to help merchants accept in-person payments more easily.

Stripe implemented Tap to Pay on iPhone with the Stripe Terminal SDK, allowing Shopify merchants to take secure, contactless payments using only an iPhone and unify those transactions with Shopify’s broader payments flow. The result was a faster deployment using Shopify’s existing Stripe integration, reduced hardware costs and setup time, and new ways for merchants to sell in more places; Shopify said merchants can deploy it in minutes and use it to capture more sales at events, curbside, and pop-up locations.
