How American Airlines Powers Global TechOps with a Real-Time Data Hub

American Airlines needed to minimize costly flight delays by modernizing TechOps maintenance systems to enable near real-time data synchronization across global operations. To address this, the airline partnered with Striim and deployed Striim Cloud (a fully managed service) alongside MongoDB, Microsoft Azure, and Databricks.

Striim built a real-time data hub that uses change data capture from MongoDB to process and stream operational data into an Azure data lake and Databricks, cutting database update latency from five minutes to a few seconds. The Striim solution reduced maintenance-related flight delays, lowered costs, improved customer satisfaction, supported new machine‑learning initiatives, and was cut over to production at global scale within 12 weeks.
