Stripe’s Journey to $18.6B of Transactions During Black Friday-Cyber Monday with Apache Pinot

Stripe needed a way to deliver fast, fresh, and accurate real-time analytics across both user-facing and internal applications at massive scale. As its payments infrastructure grew, the company needed to support dashboards, billing and developer analytics, failure alerts, security monitoring, and financial reporting while meeting strict latency and freshness requirements.

StarTree helped Stripe use Apache Pinot as the real-time OLAP layer behind these workloads, alongside Kafka and Flink for streaming ingestion and processing. The result was a platform handling over 10,000 queries per second with p99 query latency of 70 ms, p99 ingestion lag of 30 seconds, and 99.99% availability, including a Black Friday–Cyber Monday dashboard tracking 300M+ transactions worth more than $18.6B.
