How the Integrated Healthcare Association leverages the ACG® System for their AMP program

Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA), a California-based nonprofit focused on improving healthcare quality, cost-efficiency, and patient outcomes, needed a better way to support its Align. Measure. Perform. (AMP) program. To make total cost of care (TCOC) comparisons fair and actionable, IHA needed a risk adjustment approach that could account for differences in patient health status, geographic cost variation, and stakeholder buy-in. SS&C Technologies provided support through the Johns Hopkins ACG® System.

SS&C Technologies’ ACG System was implemented to risk-adjust TCOC results by grouping patients into clinically homogeneous categories and normalizing for health status and medical complexity. The solution helped eliminate variation caused by differences in patient populations, made TCOC more actionable, and established trust in the results so IHA could publicly report and reward high-value care. The case study says the ACG risk scores had a substantive impact on results, enabling a non-biased approach to performance improvement.
