Victoria University of Wellington, with about 21,000 students and nearly 2,000 staff across multiple campuses, faced a fragmented web estate managed on an aging LCMS and numerous other platforms. After a full RFP, pilot migration and CMS evaluations, the university selected Squiz to replace its incumbent system and to deliver Squiz Matrix CMS with the Easy Edit Suite so faculty and school editors could more easily manage content.

Squiz installed Squiz Matrix into Victoria’s virtualised environment and executed a three‑round migration over six months (including a pilot of ~1,000 pages), importing content via scripted PHP tools and the Matrix APIs, integrating key systems via REST/JS REST Asset and XML DataSource, and training more than 100 content editors in small practical sessions. As a result (with 40 Phase One sites migrated and the full migration completed at time of writing), Victoria’s web team now fully manages sites on Squiz Matrix, faculty editors handle their own content, editing is substantially easier, and further responsive design and HTML5 enhancements are underway — all enabled by Squiz.
