New Search Platform to Provide Support, Customization, and Improve Search Ranking

Creighton University, a private university in Omaha serving over 8,900 students and nearly 70,000 alumni, needed a modern search platform to consolidate disparate search systems, remove outdated and duplicate content, and improve relevancy and mobile usability. Squiz partnered with Creighton to deploy Funnelback (Funnelback for Higher Education) after the university’s previous solution lacked visibility and the tools required to tune rankings and manage content effectively.

Squiz implemented an off‑the‑shelf Funnelback solution with a live prototype and used Funnelback’s Curator and Content Auditor tools plus built‑in reporting to audit, classify and migrate content, reduce duplicates and stale pages, and surface relevant results across devices. As a result, Creighton gained greater control over search — promoting best bets, featuring content, tracking clicks to auto‑tune ranking, removing outdated pages, and deriving actionable analytics — improving search relevance and reducing manual management.
