Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT NZ) is one of New Zealand’s largest institutes of technology, offering over 1,500 courses to a diverse, fast-growing region. Facing the need to move business processes online, scale to run multiple sites, integrate with existing and future systems (including a Student Management System), and do this with a small in‑house web team, MIT sought an enterprise web CMS that could be hosted and managed internally. The chosen vendor was Squiz, with its Squiz Matrix CMS.

Squiz installed a single instance of Squiz Matrix CMS in MIT’s data centre, trained the web team and supported an in‑house content migration to accelerate learning. As a result MIT now runs 10 websites (including two intranets) from one server, manages over 65,000 assets with 12 content editors and a three‑person web team, and integrates core programme data and LDAP authentication with other systems. The change drove site traffic growth of 5–20% year on year and eliminated large print runs, yielding roughly $500,000 per year in savings — with ongoing support and development provided as needed by Squiz.
