Fire & Rescue NSW, the busiest urban fire and rescue service in Australia, needed a decentralised intranet so staff across many stations could rapidly access and manage mission‑critical documents. A single webmaster had become a bottleneck and the agency also required a robust TRIM integration and an easy-to-learn editing interface. To solve this, Fire & Rescue NSW chose Squiz, using Squiz Matrix CMS and Funnelback search technologies.

Squiz built a dynamic information architecture, developed a customised TRIM bridge, and integrated Funnelback with Matrix to power “related documents” and “most popular” TRIM widgets, plus a tailored Edit+ editing interface. Squiz also delivered a bespoke training program; of 85 people trained, all achieved competency. The result is a single source of truth, decentralised content management, faster access to documents and a scalable intranet that FRNSW says exceeded expectations.
