A Squiz Case Study
Digital UK is a not-for-profit set up by the UK government (funded by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Arqiva) to manage the nationwide switchover from analogue to digital TV. Faced with the huge task of informing the entire population and delivering highly accessible, easy-to-understand guidance, Digital UK needed a flexible CMS and web presence that could present complex technical information simply and be updated quickly as the programme evolved. Digital UK engaged Squiz (using Squiz Matrix and Funnelback search as core components) to deliver that capability.
Squiz provided end-to-end planning, UX, implementation and training for the main consumer site plus four targeted microsites, used Squiz Matrix to rapidly modernise and maintain consistent content/design, built a custom solution to import engineering works schedules into the CMS, and integrated Funnelback with the contact-centre database to surface FAQs and resources online. The result was unprecedented flexibility and control for Digital UK, removing reliance on external agencies and making the team more agile, responsive and productive; the switchover was completed and Squiz continues to support ongoing site improvements.
