Joe & the Juice is an international coffee and juice chain founded in Copenhagen in 2002, known for its healthy, aspirational brand and rapid global growth. For its U.S. launch the company needed a more reliable, wireless point-of-sale because its previous wired system was difficult to set up and unstable.

Joe & the Juice adopted the Square Reader SDK to build a customized native iOS POS that connects via Bluetooth to Square hardware, avoiding the need to build payment flows or hardware from scratch. The solution, including Square’s prebuilt tipping flow, was deployed in just over a month, boosted employee tips, and now supports at least two custom POS stations in each of more than 51 U.S. stores.
